Pathogen: Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis
Description
Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis (MAP) is the etiological agent of paratuberculosis, a chronic infectious disease affecting several animal species, particularly ruminants, with worldwide distribution.
The disease is characterized by weight loss, reduced milk production, infertility and, in advanced stages, chronic diarrhea and emaciation. Paratuberculosis causes significant economic losses due to decreased productivity and the long-term persistence of infected animals within herds.
Conventional detection methods such as fecal culture and serology present important limitations. Culture is considered the reference method but requires several weeks to obtain results, while serological assays may show reduced sensitivity in subclinically infected animals. Real-time PCR enables rapid, sensitive and specific detection of MAP DNA directly from clinical samples, supporting analytical detection and surveillance.
This kit enables the detection of Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis through the simultaneous analysis of two independent targets, IS900 and F57. The dual-target approach increases the reliability and specificity of MAP identification, supporting accurate detection in a wide range of sample types.
