EXOone C. difficile B toxin

Description

Clostridioides difficile is an anaerobic Gram-positive bacterium that produces several toxins, including toxin B (TcdB), a key virulence factor responsible for cytotoxic activity in intestinal cells.
Toxin B plays a central role in the development of enteric disease by disrupting the cytoskeleton of epithelial cells, leading to inflammation, diarrhea and colitis in affected animals. These infections can have a significant clinical and economic impact, particularly in young or stressed populations.
Conventional diagnostic methods based on culture or toxin detection can be time-consuming or lack sensitivity. Real-time PCR enables rapid and specific detection of the gene encoding toxin B, allowing accurate identification of toxigenic strains directly from clinical samples.
