Its infection is usually subclinical; however, it occasionally might be severe either in pre-birth or lactation stages. This microorganism is relatively resistant and therefore is found in milk, ubber, animal skin, pasture, soil, etc…

Molecular biology techniques are a sensitive tool to detect positive animals analyzing different kind of samples; i.e. milk. Control programs to reduce the incidence of this pathogen in herds might be succesfuly implemented with qPCR tests because of its speed of response and sensitivity.
