EXOone Feline Calicivirus

Description

Feline calicivirus (FCV) is a non-enveloped single-stranded RNA virus of the family Caliciviridae that is widely distributed in domestic and wild feline populations.
FCV is a major cause of feline upper respiratory tract disease and is commonly associated with oral ulceration, conjunctivitis, nasal discharge and fever. Clinical presentation ranges from mild respiratory infection to severe systemic disease, particularly in young or immunocompromised cats. Persistent infections and viral shedding contribute to the maintenance and spread of the virus within cat populations.
Conventional detection methods such as virus isolation may be time-consuming and can be affected by the genetic variability of circulating strains. Real-time RT-PCR enables rapid, sensitive and specific detection of FCV RNA directly from clinical samples, supporting analytical detection and monitoring.
