EXOone Fusobacterium necrophorum

Description

Fusobacterium necrophorum is an anaerobic Gram-negative bacterium commonly found in the normal microbiota of the gastrointestinal tract and environment, but capable of acting as an opportunistic pathogen in animals.
It is associated with necrotic and suppurative infections such as footrot, liver abscesses and oral or soft tissue lesions, leading to lameness, reduced productivity and economic losses in livestock systems.
Conventional detection methods based on culture may be slow and influenced by anaerobic growth requirements. Real-time PCR enables rapid, sensitive and specific detection of F. necrophorum DNA directly from clinical samples, supporting analytical detection and monitoring.
