EXOone Inclusion body hepatitis (Adenovirus I)

Description

Fowl aviadenovirus group I (FAdV-I) comprises a group of non-enveloped double-stranded DNA viruses belonging to the family Adenoviridae. These viruses infect poultry worldwide and include several serotypes associated with important diseases in chickens and other avian species.
Group I adenoviruses are associated with conditions such as inclusion body hepatitis (IBH), hepatitis-hydropericardium syndrome (HHS) and gizzard erosion, leading to reduced growth performance, increased mortality and significant economic losses in poultry production. Disease severity may vary depending on the viral strain, host age and the presence of concurrent infections.
Conventional detection methods such as virus isolation and serotyping can be labor-intensive and time-consuming. Real-time PCR enables rapid, sensitive and specific detection of FAdV-I DNA directly from clinical samples, supporting analytical detection and surveillance.
