EXOone Canine Circovirus

Description

Canine circovirus (CanineCV) is a non-enveloped single-stranded DNA virus of the family Circoviridae that infects domestic dogs and wild canids. It has been detected worldwide in both healthy and clinically affected animals.
CanineCV has been associated with enteric disease, vasculitis and systemic illness, often in combination with other infectious agents. Clinical signs may include diarrhea, vomiting, lethargy, weight loss and, in severe cases, multisystemic involvement. The pathogenic role of the virus is still being investigated, and co-infections appear to contribute significantly to disease expression.
Conventional detection methods are limited by the absence of routine culture systems and the frequent occurrence of subclinical infections. Real-time PCR enables rapid, sensitive and specific detection of CanineCV DNA directly from clinical samples, supporting analytical detection and monitoring.
