EXOone Paeniclostridium sordelli

Description

Paeniclostridium sordellii is an anaerobic Gram-positive bacterium commonly found in soil and the gastrointestinal tract, capable of acting as an opportunistic pathogen in animals.
It is associated with severe systemic infections such as enterotoxemia, myonecrosis and septicemia, often characterized by rapid progression, toxemia and high mortality. Although relatively uncommon, outbreaks can have significant clinical and economic impact.
Conventional detection based on culture may be limited by strict anaerobic requirements and rapid disease progression. Real-time PCR enables rapid, sensitive and specific detection of P. sordellii DNA directly from clinical samples, supporting analytical detection and monitoring.
