EXOone Canine Coronavirus (enteric)

Description

Canine coronavirus (CCV) is a virus of the family Coronaviridae that causes a highly contagious disease worldwide in dogs. The virus replicates itself inside the small intestine and local lymph nodes.
 
The symptoms of an infection vary, a single instance of vomiting and explosive diarrhea may occur, anorexia and depression. Fever is typically very rare. Puppies may exhibit protracted diarrhea and dehydration, occasionally resulting in exitus. The most common source of a CCV infection is exposure to feces from an infected dog. The viral strands can remain in the body and shed into the feces for up to six months.

Certain tests may have to be implemented to determine the cause of the infection. qPCR is the most suitable technique for a sensitive detection which also specifically discriminate this virus from other pathogens.
