EXOone Canine Adenovirus type 1

Description

Canine adenovirus type 1 (CAdV-1) is a non-enveloped double-stranded DNA virus of the family Adenoviridae that infects domestic and wild canids. It is the etiological agent of infectious canine hepatitis, a disease with worldwide distribution.
Infection can cause fever, lethargy, abdominal pain, hepatitis, coagulopathies and, in severe cases, sudden death. The virus may also affect the kidneys and eyes, where it can induce corneal edema ("blue eye"). Clinical severity varies according to the age and immune status of the animal.
Conventional detection methods such as virus isolation and serology may be time-consuming or have limited value during certain stages of infection. Real-time PCR enables rapid, sensitive and specific detection of CAdV-1 DNA directly from clinical samples, supporting analytical detection and monitoring.
This assay detects Canine adenovirus type 1 DNA and can be used for the investigation and surveillance of infectious canine hepatitis in domestic and wild canids.
